MIDWEEK SESSIONS HOSTS FRENCH TRUMPETER PIERRE DUTOT
On Wednesday 22 April Louise Howlett presents a special Single Session as part of her Midweek Sessions Series at the Church on Greenmarket Square with visiting French trumpeter Pierre Dutot in concert with organist and local Baroque specialist Erik Dippenaar.
Dutot has recorded over 80 cds and has a long and full career as both orchestral musician with the Orchestre National de Lyon and soloist across the globe. In addition he is one of the most highly regarded trumpet teachers in France and he will be coming to Cape Town to work with local students in master classes at the South African College of Music, UCT and Sans Souci School. Mr Dutot’s visit is made possible through the generous support of the French Institute of South Africa, Association Musiquelaine France and the Alliance Française. Erik Dippenaar is no stranger to Capetonians for being an intregal part of the Baroque scene. His improvisations at our October Midweek Sessions had the audience in awe.
The Church on Greenmarket Square has become a popular concert ‘hot-spot’ for it’s special ambiance and excellent accoustics, with well-lit parking on the square outside, and coffee and refreshments on sale inside, as well as a number of restaurants and bars nearby including Inn on the Square, Haiku, Bellinis and Mandela Rhodes Place.
This special session for trumpet and organ will include works by Handel, Telemann, Widor, Dubois, Vivaldi, Gigout and more.
Tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za and at the door priced R100 (R80 pensioners/students). For more information contact Louise Howlett on 084 682 1337 /firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our Facebook page: www.facebook/Midweeksessions
